SKILL 005
Colouring #1
brighten it up then hue it down!

Here's what we're aiming at

----------------------------------------

First, open up a picture then resize it. (ctrl+alt+i)
In this case, I'd be making icon so I would drag it to a 100 by 100 canvas.
I place it where I want to.

tips:
1. Don't fill the whole icon with just the face, esply if you're picture have nice background.
2. You can always use transform tool (ctrl+T) to shrink it down if you want to, remember to press shift the whole time you're resizing it.
3. Try to think of where you want the text and make sure there's enough space for it.

Duplicate the image (ctrl+j) then
Go to image>curves (ctrl+m) to adjust the darkness and lightness of your picture. If you move the curve up, it'd be lighter and if you move it down, it'd be darker. Don't try to make too many dots on there or else you'll get a weird outcome.

Set the adjusted image to soft light. (you can choose which one you want to depending on your picture and how you curved it)

Go to Image>color balance (ctrl+b) play around with the colour, there are different part to choose from, shadow, midtones, and highlights.
Start with midtones, then shadow, and highlights. You don't have to use all three, it's just an option.

I put in some text. You may choose to use textures and brushes to add to it as well.
